Democratic Convention: Day Four

I'm speechless! Seriously he gave a speech better than he has given in awhile. If you didn't see it you can watch it here. You really need to see it!

I'll leave you with the best "oh snap" moment of the speech:

Democratic Convention: Day Three

Day three of the convention was jammed packed. I wasn't able to see Bill Richardson's speech but I did see Clinton, Kerry and Biden.

I thought Kerry speech was done very well. It is too bad he wasn't that straightforward back in 2004. He really should have spoke up for himself then. Bill Clinton finally stepped up and said Obama was ready to lead and ready to be the President of the United States of America. I'm glad it was finally said by one of the Clinton's since for the longest time they were saying the exact opposite.

Biden closed out the night. Before Biden came out his son Beau introduced him and I must say I was teary eyed. Biden spoke about his life growing up and said beautiful things to his mom. Then he started his fiesty speech. The one thing I like about Biden is he is fiesty and will say what he believes and believes what he says. Gotta love a guy like that!

Obama made an appearance at the end of the night and it was good to see him up on the stage with Biden. The room was energized and that was just from watching it on tv.

Democratic Convention: Day Two

Last night was Hillary's turn to headline the convention and I must say I was impressed with what she had to say. She made a great call to her supporters that they should be backing Obama with all they have. You can watch her speech here.

She wasn't the only speaker that day that had some interesting things to say. Gov. Schweitzer from Montana was very good. Dennis Kucinich was on fire!

Were you in it for that mom struggling with cancer while raising her kids? Were you in it for that boy and his mom surviving on the minimum wage? Democratic Convention: Day One

I don't normally watch the Democratic convention until the mail event but this year being an important one in the political history of our country I decided to tune in as much as possible.

I didn't watch Kennedy's speech but as I was fast forwarding I was happy to see him looking so well with everything he is going through. I mostly wanted to watch Michelle Obama.

She did an excellent job. I was all teary-eyed when she was talking about her kids. No matter what Karl Rove and the GOP say Michelle did an excellent job of introducing her family to America. Plus her kids were adorable yelling I love you daddy at the screen.

Beijing Summer Olympics Top 10

I'm sad to say that the summer Olympics are over for another four years. The reports are saying this years Olympics were the most watched tv event ever. I can't say I disagreed. I watched coverage every day. I'm sad that they are over but there are a lot of memorable moments. Here are my top ten:

• Opening Ceremonies - by far the best I've seen in all my years of watching the Olympics. They were beautiful!

• Men’s 4x100m freestyle relay – Jason Lezak’s swim will probably go down as one of the best relay finishes ever. If you did not see it you should check it out. Lezak was a full body length behind the swimmer from France. It is amazing that he not only caught him he passed him. Plus when you read the trash talk the French were saying it makes the race even better. NBC Olympics has the video here. You will need to scroll down to find it. It is worth the watch trust me.

• Phelps 100m butterfly swim – If you watched this race you saw that at the 50m turn Phelps was in 7th place. Best thing about Phelps’ swims are his turns. He was in second place with about 15 to 20 meters left. Without his half stroke into the wall there is no way he would have won that race. Winning the race tied him with Spitz for 7 gold medals one at one Olympics. This race is also on NBC’s Olympic page.
  
  
  

• Phelps surpassing Spitz – I was very excited for Phelps to swim for 8 gold medals. Lots of people didn’t think it would be done. 36 years is a long time to hold that record. It will be interesting to see if it happens again in my lifetime.

• Dara Torres – How can you not think she is amazing? She’s 41 and had a baby in the last two years yet she still was able to come back and swim in the Olympics. Plus she showed some awesome sportsmenship when she told the judges to hold the race while a swimmer changed her suit that had ripped.

• Men’s gymnastics – They were not slated to medal in the team finals once the Hamm brothers pulled out but they pulled out a Bronze with some awesome gymnastics by two alternates. One of the alternates had tried out for the USA Gymnastics team two times before 2008.

• Woman’s gymnastic all-around – First time the American’s have gone one two for the all-around. It was a fight to the end.

• Beach Volleyball – Both the men and the woman took gold. May and Walsh have to be one of the best teams I have seen in a long time for beach volleyball. They are undefeated in 2008 and haven’t lost a tournament since August 2007. You still have one more chance to see them play as they will be coming back to try and win the AVP tournament, tune in Saturday August 30th.

• Men’s Volleyball – Their gold medal match was awesome! After the tragedy at the beginning of the Olympics it was nice to see the team win the gold medal.
  

• Closing ceremonies – China went out like they came in. The change over ceremony to London was very well done. I can’t wait for 2012!

Beijing Olympics

I don't know if you noticed but the Olympics have started. And yes I am pumped! I'm SUPER PUMPED!!!

If you didn't watch the opening ceremonies you really should. China put on a great show. Everything about it was spectactular. To quote Tim, "There are people in the boxes! People!" You will have to watch to see what I mean. I'm trying to figure out how London is going to top this in 2012. It will be tough.

I have done nothing but watch the Olympics since Friday. I can't wait for this week and the live streaming I can be doing. Watching Phelps go for his 8 medals, it is going to be awesome. He's already has one Gold and he did it in World Record time.

Now that SUCKS!!

I woke up this morning 20 mins before 7 like I normally do. I was groggy and laying in bed preparing myself for the day and my daily back stretches. I rolled over and grabbed the tv remote and clicked on. I think to myself, "Oh the batteries must be dead". I lifted myself out of bed and clicked the on button directly on the tv...and nothing. I then look at the plugs on the wall and make sure they are all plugged in, yep they are. So I try to turn it on again and again and NOTHING! The tv has died!!!! It was a very sad morning as I didn't know what to do with myself. I normally watch Young and The Restless in the morning and I felt all out of sync with the day.

Luckily my mom has four televisions at home so I can get one from there. In the meantime I guess I will catch up with my reading.
