Craftiness

I was very crafty this past weekend. Kerry and I attended two crops. The first one I wasn’t very creative at all. As a matter of fact I don’t think I finished one layout. The crop we went to on Friday at our local scrapbook store; I was very creative. I started an envelope mini book and nearly finished it.

Saturday I spent most of the day finishing up this other mini book I started. I need a few more things and then I can post more pictures.

Sunday I spend most of the day making cards. I don’t normally make cards but I had all this leftover paper from my two mini books that I decided I should make cards with the leftover scraps. Smart move on my part, now I have 15 or so cards I can send out. One of you might be the proud recipient of one.

OBAMA in BERLIN

Today Barack Obama gave a speech in Berlin, Germany to an estimated crowd of 100,000 or more. I listed to the live feed and was blown away by the things he had to say. The transcript is here. I'm sure you can find the video of it on YouTube by now.

Then I read this post on Daily Kos and thought my how things have changed and can change.

Reading the post and then seeing this picture brought tears to my eyes! Can this be happening? Is the world changing? Can he really bring the change we seek?

Photography Class Part II

I had my last photography class was last night. I think I want to take this class over again or take another class. There are some in Seattle that I think I will look into. I really enjoyed going to class, having assignments and seeing other people's pictures. It was nice to be going to a class I liked and choose not one that I had to go to.

Things I've learned:

1. If you take a roll of film with a lens whose shutter never changes your pictures will be over exposed - see earlier post on photography class.
2. Working with film is fun but man do I really want a digital SLR.
3. Train stations make for some interesting photos.
4. Still need to work on my action shots.
5. When reminding the film need to wind counterclockwise NOT clockwise!

I'm ready to go out and have some photography expeditions. I've purchased four rolls of film, I have a new lens and knowledge.

Annual BBQ

This weekend was my mom's annual July BBQ. We had a lot of things to do to get ready for it but it is always worth it.


On the menu:
pulled pork
hamburgers
bratwursts
ribs
potato salad
baked beans
taco salad
pasta salad
green salad
watermelon
cous cous
fruit salad
ice cream cake
pie
mini ginger cupcakes
lemon bars
banana split cake


There was even more but I really can't remember everything. Man was it good. I didn't over eat like normal. It is all about pacing yourself.


We had family and friends, card playing and hillbilly horseshoes in the front yard. It was good to see everyone once again. I can't wait until next year!

San Francisco Day Two

I had a great day today. I walked the trade show floor which was awesome. Then I spent the day being a tourist.

I took the trolley car down to Fisherman's Wharf. I sopped by and had my traditional chili in a sourdough bowl at Boudin's. If you are ever in San Francisco you really should have some Boudin bread. Then I walked down to Ghirardelli for chocolate. I was disappointed. They no longer sell the little mint chocolate bars. I did finally find one that wasn't filled with mint and the plus side is it is dark chocolate mint...yummy! I was going to take the trolley from there but the wait was 45 minutes. I walked down the block to the other stop...wait only 15 minutes.

Next I took the trolley up to California street where I walked down the street to the Chinatown gate took some pictures and then tried to find the fortune cookie place. Kerry went when she was in SF in April. I finally found it. It's so crazy. It really is just down an alley. It was awesome. I'm glad I found it, I almost gave up because my feet were getting so tired. I walked back to California street and then took the line down Powell street.

Today was awesome! I didn't get out to Berkley like I normally do but I did get to Chinatown.

Tomorrow I have to put in some time for work and then I fly back home.

Off to get food!

San Francisco Day One

My day was pretty uneventful. I showed up and ran my course and then worked on a project for work for most of the day.

(my hotel stuff was messed up but it has sense been fixed)

Anyway...I met up with my friend (my friend's cousin) and headed to dinner. I had a really awesome Tarragon Chicken salad sandwich (Katie it was delicious) that came with a bean salad that was very yummy too. Then I went and saw Hancock.

Will Smith + 4th of July weekend = hit! Oh yes it was a hit. I really liked it. I had already heard there was a twist but I wasn't ready for it. I won't give it away in case you haven't seen it. Needless to say I really liked it!

Tomorrow is another day and another adventure!
